For design I began looking at the general womens 1940's day dress fashion and how it was made, worn and styled in its time. I looked at different elements of the day dress inckuding it's shiloette, the way women of different ages would wear different adaptations of the dress, I looked at the the different fabric, patterns and fastenings andf the way women of the time would style these dresses using shoes, accesories, hairstyles and makeup
I then created a colour pallete for my day dress and designed it using Adobe Illustrator, labeling all of the elements of the dress and the way I want it to be styled
I am pleased with my final deign as I think it shows clearly how I want the dress to look when it's made and the different elements included such as a the panneling and dotted trim. If i was to do it again, however I would make the gathered sleeves and skirt a bit clearer.
