I looked at how each character, Nella Last, Will Last, Cliff last and the displaced child were represented in the filmsand how they were in real life.
I began with Nella looking at her style and the way that she liked to dress.
I looked at the length and shapes of day dresses that she liked to wear alongside looking at different patterns that she used to wear.
I then took a look at how she would style her hair and makeup as well as taking insight into the kinds of accesories she would pair her ourtfits with including what shoes she wore.
For Will I took a close look at the kinds of garments men during labour work would wear and what uniforms or dress codes they would abide by. I also focused on the kinds of clothes that Will wore in real life and thought about how I could link this in within his work outfits.
I took a look at some images of the representation of Cliff in the film and Cliff in real life, taking inspiration from him as an artist as well as him as a soldior.
For Cliff, as I was deisgning for him in his work uniform I looked at different soldiors uniforms so I could get some inspiration for my design. I also analysied this particular image of Cliff in his uniform so I couls see how he liked to style it and what elements he had on his personal one.
For the displaced child I looked at children who were being sent away from their famulies due to the war and what they would ear and take with them.
I looked at what a lot of of the children would take with them to see if i wanted to include ay of these things within my designs.
These are my final designs.
I am happy with how these turned out and I think that they show each character clearly however if i was to do them again I would do them on a bigger scale and use a variety of different mediums so that i could tell the information about the fabric choises in more detail.
