Red and Green lines on illustrator

To create a stencil cut out on illustrator there are two main rules. The red lines that are used to draw around the shape means to cut out and the green lines mean engrave so these are used to add detail.

If all the tones are not the same the software will not understand so when doing this you have to make sure that they all match up or it will not work.
