42nd street is a musical that follows the storyline about how a young women came to New York with her tap shoes and big dreams aiming to make a big break. The film is set during the great depression so it follow history and in the film the audience are able to see how the great depression. This film a musical and it has some beautiful dance numbers in. The plot is very similar to many other musicals so in my opinion it lacks uniqueness in that sense however the intricate dance numbers elevate this musical greatly. My personal favourite aspect of this film are the tap dances as they are very complicated and therefore impressive. The music that was chosen for this film, I feel is very cohesive to the plot and was chosen very well. The films characters are very bubbly and excitable which makes it a fun watch and there are elements within characters that I feel audience members could relate to and sympathise with, therefore making it a film where people can connect with characters and therefore are more interested in the plot. Overall I feel that the musical lacks a unique enough plot however the dance numbers are particularly impressive which makes it more enjoyable and adds the unique aspect to it.
