Immitation of Life is a film that takles many different issues that still sits heavily within our society, such as race, class and gender, it follows a single, white, women, Lorna Meredith, who is mother to six year old, Susie who has a dream of making it as a big broadway star. She hires another women, named Annie Johnson who is black and has a light skinned daughter of her own, Sarah Jane who is eight years old and they live together in Lorn’s small aprtment in New York. The film takes the audience on a joiurney where we see Susie, slowly become negleted by Lorna as her career takes over and we see Sarah Jane reject her mother becuase of her race and speands her time convincing he friends at school that she is white. I think that this film was excellent and had a vry well written script, the way that these issues were tackled and displayed throughout the film was so original, yet relatable and overal gut wrenchingly beautiful. It was one that takes audience memebers on an empotional rolocosster and will definitly spark conversation. The cinematography that is experienced through the watch is done so carfully and and sets the mood and atmosphere of each and every scene. The costumes are also phemominal and are true to each character as we can see the difference in character and personality between Lorna and Annie just by lookng at their costumes. Overal this was a heavy but enjoyable watch and one that I would recomend to others.
