The night of the hunter

The night of the hunter is an iconic film that originally had negative reaction to. Many people believed it to not be very good however after film critics had re-reviewed it, it got the opposite reaction causing more people to give it a watch. I think the plot is very interesting and full packed with depth and thought. The way it’s based off of the real life murderer Harry Powers, without him being the main character and the movie not being about his life completely was done remarkably well as it tells us a lot about this man and what kind of character he was without being followed through his life. The film I felt was not boring at all, it had many different levels to it and some very strong characters which I personally liked as I feel it made me consider the characters more deeply as they were so well written. Another thing I enjoyed about this movie was the way it was filmed and the angles that were being played with, the sharp corner s and the way they arched over characters in some scenes helped to set the tone of the film and I felt they were very cohesive to the plot. Overall I felt that the film was right to be looked over again and I think hat I was one that influenced many other great film makers today, It’s a shame that it got such bad press during the premier because I would have loved to watch more of Charles Laughton films.
