When learning hat making I was always very interesting in making headpieces as well as just hats and we learnt how to do this using wire.
In the first half of the lesson I designed the headpiece that I would have liked to have a go at making using pattern paper.
I then was given some cotton covered wire so try and recreate it. I began by making a headband shape that would go over the head and behind the ears. With the front section of the headband I tried to shape using my design as an inspiration.
I found shaping the wire harder then I expected it would be, I thought it would have been a lot easier but the wire was quite stiff and keeping everything symmetrical was difficult.
